The details
The details
Instagram folded IGTV into the main app a while ago, and long video now lives either as an extended Reel or under the old /tv/ address. What did not change is the problem: a fifteen-minute video with eleven plays looks like a video nobody finished, and visitors decide whether to press play on that number. This service moves it.
The target is the video's link. Old IGTV uploads still answer at instagram.com/tv/ addresses; newer long uploads use /reel/. The form accepts /tv/, /reel/ and /p/ links so that whatever address your video has, it can be sent here. Views on long video are counted the moment playback starts, so they arrive as quickly as on short clips; the batch completes within an hour in most cases.
Long video is where a view batch is most useful and least sufficient. It gets people to press play; what happens after that depends on the video. Views do not add likes or comments and do not change watch time; they raise the play count that visitors and the ranking system see.
Good to know
Good to know
- The form accepts /tv/, /reel/ and /p/ links; the video itself must be a long, public video.
- One batch per video every 6 hours.
- Views raise the play count only; watch time, likes and comments are unaffected.
- A video still processing after upload cannot be played and the request fails.
Questions
Questions
IGTV does not exist any more. Why is this service here?
The app went; the videos did not. Long uploads still carry a play count and still start at zero. The service name matches what people search for.
Which link should I use?
Whichever the share icon gives you. Older videos say /tv/, newer ones say /reel/. Both are accepted.
Is this different from Reels views?
Same kind of view, same delivery. The difference is only which page you found first. Short clips: Reels views. Long ones: this.
How fast do views arrive?
Within the hour, often faster.
Do views help a long video get recommended?
They help it get opened. Whether Instagram recommends it further depends on how long people keep watching, which the batch cannot influence.
