The details
A repost on X, which most people still call a retweet, is how a post travels. A like is private applause; a repost puts the post in front of the reposter's followers with your name on it. The repost count under a post is read as a measure of how far it went, and the algorithm uses it together with replies to decide whether the post deserves a wider audience.
The target is a post link in the form x.com/username/status/number. Links from twitter.com are accepted and rewritten. The post must be public: posts from protected accounts, deleted posts and posts with limited visibility cannot be reposted. Replies and quote posts have their own status links and qualify. Reposts are slower than views, because each is a separate account's action, and the batch takes an hour or two.
Reposts work best on a post that already has views. A post with two hundred views and a handful of reposts looks like it is generating an echo; a post with no views and ten reposts looks like what it is. Send views first if the post is new, then reposts.
